Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the WelcomeMat app and getwelcomemat.com. By creating an account you agree to them.

Who can use WelcomeMat

You must be 18 or older and live at an address in a community WelcomeMat serves. One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure.

Your community and its director

Each community is run by a licensed director who is an independent business operator, not a WelcomeMat employee. The director sets and enforces community guidelines, may remove content, and may suspend or remove residents who breach them. Disputes about a director's decision go first to the director, then to info@getwelcomemat.com.

What you may not do

• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, or that discloses another person's private information without consent
• Impersonate another resident or misrepresent your address
• Use the app for commercial solicitation unless your director has approved it
• Copy, scrape, or share community content or resident information outside the community
• Attempt to access another community or another resident's account

Your content

You own what you post. You give WelcomeMat and your community's director a licence to display, store, and moderate it for the purpose of running the community. If you delete your account, your posts may remain visible in anonymised form, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Beta software

WelcomeMat is currently offered as a beta. Features may change, and the app may have errors or interruptions. We may reset or remove beta data with notice in the app.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app. We or your director may suspend or close your account for breaching these terms or if you no longer live in the community.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

WelcomeMat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. WelcomeMat is not responsible for content posted by residents or for actions taken by directors or their staff. To the fullest extent permitted by law, WelcomeMat's total liability to you for any claim arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months, or $100 if you paid nothing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Brunswick County, North Carolina.

Changes

If we make a material change to these terms, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.
